Sex offenders face many restrictions in their daily life, but now some New York legislators are hoping to add another one: prohibiting sex offenders from holding positions such as building manager or superintendent where they would have keys to many different apartments. The Epoch Times has more:
In light of the recent reports about William Barnarson, Assemblyman Kellner has introduced legislation to prevent this in New York, and Sen. Schumer plans to stop sex offenders, who often cross state lines to avoid detection, from holding keys to multifamily apartments across the country.“Unfortunately it’s completely legal for a convicted sex offender to become the superintendant or a building manager in any multifamily apartment building in New York, and the jobs almost always provide the offender with keys to the renters’ apartments in the buildings. Given the large number of sexual offenders in New York—there are 6,000—this is an issue that has to be dealt with immediately.”Barnason had served over 10 years in jail for sexually assaulting and raping girls as young as 5 years old, and while working as a superintendent of three multifamily apartment buildings, had propositioned female tenants for sexual favors in return for help with their rent.Assemblyman Kellner added that sex offenders have been banned from other professions and building managers should be added to the list.
This is ridiculous. What about the sex offender who is the property owner? Will he be required to turn over his keys to a property manager who meets government specs?

Of course, if the NY criminals Schumer and Kellner really believe that laws such as these are warranted, there is absolutely no reason or defense for not applying them to anyone every convicted of a felony. So why are they never proposed or passed that way? It is a key question that goes to the heart of why these laws are even passed.
What criminals like Schumer and his kind want is to have fun retroactively harassing and punishing people who are Registered until they can dream up no further punishments. It will never matter that the laws will ultimately protect no one and will certainly cause many Registered people to retaliate. It won't matter that the laws will be just like the Registries are - just a tool that harasses and punishes people while protecting no one. The "people" who like these laws won't be bothered by that. They can pass the laws and forget them. Doesn't matter what effect they have.
Make no mistake about it, this is a war. Scumbags like Schumer are destroying very basic American ideals. If you are a Registered person, they are trying to steal your country from you and make it a terrible place for you to live. So declare war on them.
If you are Registered, you likely did something illegal. It may have even been something very heinous. However, you paid the punishment that was legally prescribed upon you. It is un-American, immoral, and illegal for criminals such as Schumer to add more. It is unacceptable. Understand that now you are morally superior to them. You are right, they are wrong. When you where sentenced it was not a legal requirement that you accept additional punishments for the rest of your life. It is wrong. Take back your country. Don’t let them turn it into a piece of trash.
Schumer is the criminal legislator who got the law passed that requires national registration of Registered people's e-mail addresses. Back when it was passed, he said " Sex offenders have no business joining social networking communities …" (http://schumer.senate.gov/new_website/record.cfm?id=303960 ). The reality is that Schumer is a moron if he thinks his law is going to prevent any crime and he has no business inflicting his useless, illegal laws upon people who are doing nothing wrong. His behavior is unacceptable. He is an enemy and I will do whatever I legally can to harm him and people like him. It way past the time to tell these people "FU."

I think that this may be a bad idea. Putting criminals on the street and the most worrisome thing there is that they will become useless and not be able to get a job. Sex offenders are on a different level because especially has someone who has a kid of the same sex of the victim or a person of the same sex as the victim you are always curious as to if they would do this to you. When you are in a manager position of an entire building you are responsible for the well being of everyone in there, and in a lot of cases it's families. Parents with kids that are home by themselves or with 15 year old babysitters at times. I know I personally wouldn't want a guy convicted of raping mutiple 5 year olds around my kids. But then again we don't want them to be useless and not do anything and we would like to see them contribute to society. I think a good way to solve this is in the packet that is handed to prospective residents a list of his conviction and crimes should be inside so then it is the families decision to live there.
