An Indiana state court judge rejected a request by a convicted sex offender to be allowed to watch his son play baseball in a city park. The man completed his sexual battery sentence in 1996 and no longer was required to register with the state’s registry of sex offenders.
Sentencing Law and Policy reports that California police officers are "seeking an explanation for why women's panties were discovered during a routine search of a male sex offender's home." Police believe the man may have taken the underwear from homes for sale during open houses.
New Hampshire's Adam Walsh compliance bill has been sent to the State Senate where it is being discussed by the Judiciary Committee. One lawmaker made an unsuccessful attempt to "exempt from the registry people younger than 21 who had consensual sex with a minor." The lawmaker apparently made her bid after hearing stories from multiple men, now married with families, who engaged in consensual sex while under 21.
Ontario, Canda's highest court, though admitting that the province's sex offender registry infringes on the freedom of sex offenders, has upheld the registry because of public safety interests. An Ontario man has "challenged the law requiring sex offenders to register with the province arguing it violated his constitutional rights after he was charged with failure to comply for not reporting an address change on time."
