Attorney General Eric Holder has extended the deadline for States to comply with the Adam Walsh Act to July 2010. States that fail to comply with the federal Walsh Act face the mandatory loss of 10% of its Bryne Justice Assistance Grant. From the Washington Times:
Not a single state was ready to meet a deadline set for this month, prompting Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to grant an extension. With a year's reprieve, states are now wrestling with what they can and will do to satisfy the guidelines when they take effect in July 2010.
States that fail to comply will lose a portion of their annual federal justice grant, but California and Vermont are considering whether that would cost them less than implementing the program.
Maryland and other states will have to enact new laws, but some legislators oppose aspects of the federal guidelines involving the registration of juveniles and unlimited retroactivity. Virginia has legislation pending that would make it impossible to comply. D.C. officials say they are close to compliance but are awaiting further adjustments by Congress.
Under the guidelines created by the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, states and other jurisdictions must feed a national Internet database with information about where the nation's estimated 674,000 registered sex offenders live and work. A jurisdiction that fails to do so faces the mandatory 10 percent of its Byrne Justice Assistance Grant, which supports crime control and prevention and funds victim programs as well as public defenders.
All juvenile offenders, whether they were tried in adult or juvenile court, will have to be registered under the law. The U.S. attorney general will have the authority to apply the law retroactively, meaning it may be applied to those who have served their time.
Cowards Don’t Learn – They Only Hide and Make Excuses
Almost everyone who is aware of the Adam Walsh Act and SORNA are struggling with two aspects of the Acts that rub many people the wrong way. 1) The unlimited retroactivity that by the way not only covers registration, but covers notification, the categorical tier system, and all the other requirements in Title 1, and 2) juvenile registration.
The many who don't care one bit about the extensive harm to the many people who have done nothing needing such harshness is immense and many people whether Republican, Democrat, or whatever political bent don't care. Many are also afraid to go against these abuses of government because they want to remain part of the commonality - the politically correct, not justifiably correct, but politically correct.
I cannot help but continue to see in my minds eyes the Great Capacity for People to do Immense Harm to other individuals based on nothing more than twisted word of mouth. Many people are not aware of what these Acts actually say and who is targeted. They depend on what they hear or the lack of hearing, omissions of factual information, twisted legalize, and downright legal and judicial dishonesty.
Since the mid 1800's the United States along with other countries have shown their "capacity" for extreme cruelty, and many people in America do not want to learn from the past because it doesn't fit their willful ignorance nor their desired way of thinking.
Defense lawyers are hard to find who are willing to fight against legal and judicial injustices, and thus practically all people’s who are a target of those Acts are on their own in many respects. I doubt that defense attorneys in general have even looked and completely read and analyzed those Acts except for the NACDL attorney's, who don't take cases. How about that?
In the days of slavery with overt racism at its peaks it took the harmed along with some supporters to finally start making a difference, and it was bloody. Remember; the legal systems, the judicial systems, the enforcement systems, and political systems were all wrong for they allowed extremely hateful and murderous conditions to exist for a very very long time before the harmed and their supporters finally got the courage to march in mass, and then it still took a few decades for the hard headed and obstinate to listen.
Where were the so-called defenders of justice, the defenders of the down trodden? Mostly no where to be seen, just as it is today. A few courageous attorney's are working to help undue the wrongs of the systems mentioned above, but the few are not enough. In Colorado, I have yet to find even one defense attorney that is ready to help fight the injustices inbred into systems that have been rationalized, just as in the past, to rationalize bad and outright hateful laws as being sound legal laws.
This is somewhat of a plea hoping to fall upon attorneys who care, but it is a shot in the dark. When attorneys stop lying to themselves and face the true fact that many are not deserving of these type laws, there are two things to do: 1) Ignore this truth and do nothing, or 2) get ready and prepared to take on every aspect these laws and truly defend.

These insane laws harm countless millions of children.
I tend to run on and at times am quite wordy so I will attempt to be brief.
If you watch the video supplied here, ( http://cfcamerica.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=839&Itemid=139 )
You will not, if you pay attention, that the leader of the Hearing on SORNA, Sex Offender Registration Notification Act, Openly Admits: "Once a person is placed on the Sex Offender Registry, their life is basically over".
That being said. That which countless thousands are experiencing already know. I must say.
Just one example.
A man commits some sex crime, maybe 18 years old, has sex with a girl of 14.. they both want to, the think they are in love.
Soon, they break up and he ends up in jail. All that happened 30 years ago.
Now, the man has teen age children. He married that very same girl whom he was arrested for having sex with 30 years ago.
Now, under these laws, THIS MAN IS A SEX OFFENDER FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE FOR A 30 YEAR OLD CRIME THAT HE ALREADY SERVED HIS TIME FOR.
His children are shunned, outcasts. They have no friends.. their dad cannot come to sporting events, plays, anything at the school.
His life is over!
Tha is just ONE aspect which is being played out all over this country from this insane set of laws.
If this man has 4 kids. That is 4 kids lives ruined in just ONE family.
Multiply that over millions of homes all across these United States of Prison / Nazi America.
What happened to the Constitution?
I will tell you
George Bush.
Alberto Gonzales.
