There is lots of stuff going on lately and I can barely keep track of it all.
A helpful reader sends us a nice article discussing a local effort in Massachusetts to apply residency restrictions to certain sex offenders.
Grits for Breakfast has all sorts of sex-crime-related posts tracking what's happening in Texas. First, there are several posts tracking the ongoing scandal and crisis related to the Texas Youth Commission. Second, Grits has a couple posts concerning the efficacy of sex offender monitoring in relation to bills being discussed there. Third, there is a mention of an ombudsman position being set up for in-prison rape. And while not sex-crime-related, Grits has a post about the best crime shows on TV (I strongly second the endorsement of The Wire).
Another reader sent me a link to an article about how the presence of sex offenders affects property values. This is something I talk about in my article drawing from the work of Professor Lior Strahilevitz.
abyss2hope has a personal and informative post discussing various rape myths.
And yet another reader sent me this article about a proposal to keep teens off the sex registries in Florida.
